FARMER FEATUREStudents Compete in Entrepreneurship Challenge Hayward High Business Marketing Department students competed in the first annual Entrepreneurship Challenge on Thursday, April 26th. The event was sponsored by NFTE Bay Area and the Eden Area Regional Occupational Program. Twenty students submitted business plans to judges representing Bay Area businesses. The top four finishers will be moving onto the semi-finals which will be held in San Francisco May 12th. The top two finalists will then go to a five competition in New York City. The top four finishers are (in order) Stefania Borda/ Cindy Ramirez, Maria Valle, Adam Roxas, and Kenneth Eddens III. In Memoriam Rodney Pierce, former HHS School Resource Officer and Class of 1984 alumnus, passed away Friday morning, May 11, 2012. Officer Pierce, who was 46, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on Monday, May 7th on his way to work at the Hayward Police Department. Officer Pierce, a product of Hayward High School, went above and beyond the call of duty as an SRO, working with athletic teams and counseling Hayward High students on a daily basis. The last of week of school will follow a special bell schedule whereas Monday, June 4 will follow an odd block day schedule (Pd. 0, 1, 3, 5, 7) and Tuesday, June 5 an even block schedule (Pd. 0, 2, 4, 6, 7). Wednesday will follow a normal odd block schedule for final exams and Thursday a normal even block schedule for final exams.
